The Sacramento City Council has voted to approve the sale of $130 million in bonds to help pay for the city's water-meter installation project.
"In the next four years, we are going to be spending about $260 million on water-related capital improvements. We are pursuing two funding sources," says Bill Busath, director of the Department of Utilities. "One is the state revolving fund and one is bond sales."
Busath says the city will issue the bonds in early 2017.
Most of the money would go to the installation of water meters with a portion going toward water-treatment and billing-system improvements.
