Yuba and Sutter counties celebrated their annual Veterans Day Parade through the city of Marysville Friday.

Hundreds of service men and women were joined by classic cars, fire trucks and marching bands during the parade.

Spencer Douville is with the 9th Munitions Squadron at Beale Air Force Base and he says that seeing the different generations coming together is his favorite part of any Veterans Day.

"There's a lot of good people who have given their lives to this country," Douville says. "You need to be able to thank them and show your gratitude."

Also in the parade was a group of Hmong Veterans who now live in the area, which included James Thao, who says that this group of veterans helped American pilots fly in and out of Laos during what they call "the Secret War" that took place at the same time as the Vietnam War.

"We are veterans. That's very important to us. We need respect. We are American fought. We live in United States. We carry the American flag," Thao says.

The Laotian veterans wore their uniforms with American flag patches and American medals bestowed upon them for service.

They say they are proud to have helped the U.S. government and hope some day the U.S. will add them to the list of those veterans who receive health benefits.
