Five California firefighters, including two from Northern California, are among the 79 around the country who died last year. They'll be remembered during the annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service on Sunday in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

The California firefighters being honored are:
Michael Hallenbeck, age 21, of the USDA Forest Service, Lake Tahoe Basin who died after he was struck by a falling tree during the Sierra Fire in the El Dorado National Forest in August of last year;
Captain Franck W. Tremaine, age 58, of the Jackson Fire Department who died after responding to a vehicle accident in January of 2015;
Inmate Firefighter Raymond G. Araujo Jr., age 37, of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation who died after he suffered a heart attack during a training exercise on April 13, 2015;
Captain Scott Carroll, age 48, of the Oxnard Fire Department who suffered a brain aneurysm and died on November 30, 2015, after responding to multiple emergency calls;
Engineer Gregory J. Hennessey, age 49, of the Orange County Fire Authority who died after responding to multiple emergency calls on January 20, 2014.
Their names will be added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial on the grounds of the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland where Sunday's ceremony is being held.
