Fatal Crash Snarls Traffic On Eastbound I-80 At West Capitol

A fatal crash involving a big rig and two vehicles snarled traffic on eastbound Interstate 80 at West Capitol Monday morning.

According to multiple media reports, one person was killed and two people were hurt.

A tomato truck hit an empty, stalled car in the slow lane. Two people were standing on the side of the road.

They were thrown off the Yolo Causeway bridge when a Toyota Prius hit the stalled car.

In a tweet, Caltrans called the crash "horrific."

Shortly after 7 a.m., Caltrans announced that all lanes on I-80 were reopened. But traffic on the causeway remains slow with delays of up to an hour.
