(AP) - Sheriff's deputies say a California woman has died, possibly killed by her own dogs while trying to keep them from fighting.
KCRA-TV reports that officers found the woman's body in her Gridley home on Wednesday afternoon. They were at her house to check up on her because she didn't show up to work.
Investigators say she likely died of injuries caused by trying to keep her dogs from fighting, noting that the animals had injuries consistent with fighting each other.
Police are also considering other theories about how she died, such as from natural causes, and that her wounds were caused after death.
An autopsy hasn't been performed yet. It will help determine the cause of death.
