Golfers and spectators at Thursday's U.S. Senior Open in Sacramento will be greeted with some high temperatures.
Brooke Bingaman with the National Weather Service says temperatures in the Sacramento metro region are expected to reach 103 to 105 degrees.
Bingaman says the heat will come later in the day, but people should prepare carefully beforehand.
"The peak heating hours are generally going to be between 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. so that's a good chunk of time when it's going to be really hot," says Bingaman. "So we highly suggest that people continually drink water throughout the entire day, not just when it's hot, but start in the morning."
Bingaman also suggests wearing light-colored clothing, a hat and staying in the shade as much as possible.
Friday is expected to be slightly cooler with the weekend cooling a little bit more -- down into the low 90s. Next week, it's expected we'll heat up again, with triple digits possible by mid-week.
