Some rain and snow is forecast for the Sierra and Sacramento area this weekend. The National Weather Service says a quick moving storm will come through Friday and last into Saturday.
Snow levels are expected to drop to around 55-hundred feet. Mike Smith is with the National Weather Service in Sacramento. He says the heaviest snow will likely fall later Friday.
"Because of that snowfall we do have a winter weather advisory up, starting late this evening and going through most of the day on Saturday," says Smith.
Smith cautions that since this a late season storm -- people may not be as prepared for snowy driving conditions-- so drivers should take care. Forecasters are expecting around a foot of snow at the highest peaks. Showers are expected to stick around through Saturday afternoon, mainly south of Interstate 80.
