Non-Profits Launch Interactive California Voter Guide

California voters have a new tool this election season that allows them to do deep research on candidates and issues.

The Voter’s Edge project is an interactive, online voter guide. It’s the result of a collaboration among several non-profits, including Map Light, the League of Women Voters of California Education Fun and California Forward.

Map Light’s Pamela Behrsin says the guide provides campaign finance information, such as top donors.

"It also gives you information like editorials. It gives you news articles that journalists have written. It gives you basic biographical information, video from the candidates," she says.

When voters enter their home addresses, their polling locations appear, as do the issues and candidates they’ll be voting on. Behrsin says there’s also a mock ballot voters can share via social media. She says that’s an attempt to raise voting awareness.
