The Washoe County Health District imposed another wood burning ban yesterday until further notice because of a strong temperatures inversion and stagnant weather conditions that has caused a spike in air pollution.

Use of fireplaces, wood stoves and pellet stoves is prohibited unless it is the only heat source.

Health officials say the air quality may be unhealthy for sensitive groups. People with heart or lung disease, older adults and children should avoid prolonged outdoor activity or heavy exertion.
