Thousands Will Take Part In Area Thanksgiving Charity Runs

  •  Marianne Russ
Wednesday, November 27, 2013 | Sacramento, CA | Permalink

Between 28 and 30 thousand people are expected to run and walk through the streets of East Sacramento tomorrow morning during the annual Run to Feed the Hungry.

Tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of the 5-K and 10-K walk and run, which is a fundraiser for the Sacramento Food Bank.

The 10-K begins at 8:35, the 5-K at 9 and the starting line is on J Street, just west of the entrance to the Sacramento State campus.

People will be lacing up their running shoes tomorrow in Yolo County as well.

The 5th annual "Running of the Turkeys" 5-K starts tomorrow morning at 8 in downtown Woodland.

The event benefits Yolo Food Bank programs.

Organizers say awards will be given to the "best dressed" as well as the top three finishers.

More than 500 runners and walkers took part in last year's race.

Participants are encouraged to bring frozen turkeys and canned good donations.
