Josh Wood with Downtown-arena-dot-org says it has collected 10-thousand petition withdrawal forms to give to the City Clerk.

"We're trying to keep it from getting to the ballot because right now we have money that's interested in investing in Sacramento and creating jobs now," says Wood.  "That is waiting on the sidelines because they don't know whether or not this project is finalized."

Downtown-arena-dot-org is primarily financed by the Region Builders trade association.

John Hyde represents the group -Sacramento Taxpayers Opposed to Pork.  It wants no public financing of an arena.

"The citizens of Sacramento feel this is too big an issue not to have a say themselves," says Hyde.

Hyde says STOP will try to collect 11,000 more signatures to ensure the measure qualifies.

STOP is primarily financed by the owner of the Woodland Tomato processing giant, Morningstar.

Twenty-two thousand petitions are required to put a measure on the ballot.  They must be submitted by December 10th.
