The November 16 event will target the poor and minority populations in the Sacramento region.  Peter Lee is the Executive Director of Covered California - the state's health insurance exchange.  He says the state received $910 million in federal funding.

"About $250 million is for marketing, advertising, outreach," he says.  "Of that, about $45 million we've given out in community grants.  And that money is going to a range of groups to have people out at street fairs.  But, I want to tell you.  We've seen groups out at street fairs that haven't received a dime or a penny because they want to get their people insured."

Of the 50 organizations receiving grants from Covered California, at least seven will help with outreach in Sacramento including The California Black Health Network, Planned Parenthood, and Sacramento Asian-Pacific Chamber of Commerce.
