Daniel Berlant with Cal Fire says the state has sent six engines and two air tankers to help with the fire fight.
"This fire has been fanned by very strong north winds," he says. "These winds we've been seeing for the last day or so in the Sacramento Valley as well as the Bay Area. These winds are expected to continue through this weekend elevating our fire danger."
Berlant says the fire is 50 percent contained.
The fire started a little after one o'clock Friday afternoon south of Highway 12.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
