Reno-based Gregg Stokes has been looking forward to shopping for new coverage on Nevada Health Link.

The independent media producer says his family's health insurance rates have gone up almost 400% in the past 10 years, and he's looking for something more affordable.

But Stokes says for the last couple of days he’s had problems navigating and creating an account on nevadahealthlink.com.

“Of course they say they’re experiencing technical difficulties, but I’ve waited for four years, and I’m willing to wait a little longer," says Stokes.

He says he won't give up on the site.

"I’m completely hopeful that they’ll get whatever bugs they need to get worked out.”

Nevada Health Link says technical problems came from a high volume of users trying to create accounts at the same time.

The exchange has also had trouble verifying people’s information with federal data.

“A little patience with us would be great," says C.J. Bawden, Communications Officer with Nevada Health Link.

Despite the problems Bawden says almost 19,000 accounts have been created on nevadahealthlink.com. He says completed applications and payments are starting to roll in too.
