Kings Lure Assistant GM From Denver

  •  Bob Moffitt
Friday, June 21, 2013 | Sacramento, CA | Permalink

In a press release, General Manager Pete D’Alessandro says the hiring of Bratz adds 35 years of National Basketball Association experience to the Kings new front office staff:

"During our time together in Denver, I came to know Mike as one of the classiest, hardest working individuals in our business. It gives me great pleasure to welcome him back to Northern California.”

Bratz played for the Kings during the team’s inaugural season in Sacramento and served as an assistant coach for seven seasons (1991-92, 1993-94 – 1997-98). He also worked as a scout and radio analyst.

He followed his time in Sacramento with jobs working for Utah, Washington, Cleveland, Milwaukee and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Bratz joins the Kings front office after spending the last three seasons in Denver working alongside D’Alessandro, most recently as the Nuggets’ director of player personnel.

Bratz' final season as a player was the team's first in Sacramento.  He was selected by the Suns with the 66th pick in the third round of the 1977 NBA Draft.

He played for six teams – Phoenix, Cleveland, San Antonio, Chicago, Golden State, and Sacramento over nine NBA seasons.

In 586 career games, he averaged 7.0 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He led the NBA with 57 three-pointers made in 1980-81.

Bratz is a Central California native, an academic All-America and member of the Stanford Hall of Fame.
