Chris Bruno is the Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer at CapRadio, where he is responsible for driving strategic communications and development initiatives that amplify brand visibility, deepen audience loyalty and accelerate revenue growth. Leading a multidisciplinary team, he oversees the organization's Marketing, Development, Sponsorship, Audience Insights and Product functions.
His tenure is marked by high-impact milestones, including steering the organization through a comprehensive rebranding and orchestrating the most successful fundraising campaign in the station’s 40-year history. Under his leadership, CapRadio launched its most popular podcasts, generating over a million downloads, and built a digital fundraising engine that tripled email donation revenue in just two years.
Chris played a critical role during CapRadio’s 2023–2024 financial crisis, leading strategic communications and restructuring on-air marketing inventory to unlock nearly $1M in new revenue opportunities. He also ushered in a new 100% community-funded business model, presenting this novel approach to sustainability at a national industry webinar for over 200 public media representatives after the 2025 CPB shutdown.
Taking an innovative approach to community impact, Chris orchestrated over 20 strategic partnerships to bolster engagement, brand affinity and fundraising. He led an unprecedented collaboration with the Sacramento Region Community Foundation to serve as the Visionary Media Partner for Big Day of Giving — achieving record-breaking fundraising for both entities in 2025 — while simultaneously launching CapRadio’s Nonprofit Showcase program. He also acted as the key architect of the Public Media and Student Advancement fund and a first-of-its-kind collaborative fundraising partnership with Sacramento State for Give Sac State Day that raised more than $70,000 over 36 hours to support paid internships.
Elevated to CMRO in 2024, Chris brings nearly 20 years of experience building trusted brands, driving revenue growth and translating vision into long-term impact across a variety of industries. He has previously served on the board of Empower Yolo (formerly Yolo Center for Families), founded the Cal Aggie East Bay Network and served on the Chapters Committee for the Cal Aggie Alumni Association. Chris is a graduate of the University of California at Davis.
