Monthly job figures show unemployment in the four-county Sacramento area stayed flat in March.
The jobless rate was 5.4 percent in March, unchanged from February and a more than 1 percent drop from a year ago. The numbers come from the state Employment Development Department.
Government led month-over-month employment gains by adding 1,400 jobs. Other sectors that added jobs include: education, healthcare and construction. Combined employment increased by 4,600 jobs between April and March. But gains were offset by job losses in financial activities, manufacturing and "other services."
In the four-county region, Placer County had the lowest unemployment rate of 4.6 percent. Yolo County had the highest at 6.5 percent.
