Right now you’re paying an average of $3.83 a gallon if you’re in the Sacramento area. That’s about a nickel less than this time last month.
Cynthia Harris with AAA says the auto club’s latest survey finds prices throughout Northern California are holding relatively steady…down just a few pennies from June.
“We’re starting to see the continuation of a downward trend in the month of July which normally we start to see high peaks in gas price volatility because of a higher demand. Now we still have a higher demand than we did in spring or in winter. But nonetheless, it is stabilized.”
Harris says the reason prices are expected to hold steady is that oil refinery production is operating at normal levels.
She points out that could change at any moment if some sort of accident or natural disaster interrupts the flow of oil.
