Travelers at the Sacramento International Airport will have new food options later this year once the Terminal A food court gets a makeover. Within a week, remodelers will install barricades on the second level to make room for the new local restaurants. The project aims to provide a modern, open dining and lounging area where passengers can relax.
This is the biggest remodel since Terminal A opened in 1998. The airport is remodeling the 17,000-square-foot seating area to include Paesanos and the Squeeze Inn this summer, and the Iron Horse Tavern in the fall.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer our passengers the same type of experience in Terminal A that they enjoy in Terminal B, complete with one-of-a-kind restaurants that give passengers a sense of place,” John Wheat, Director of Airports for the Sacramento County Dept. of Airports, said in a press release.
The Iron Horse Tavern will anchor the center aisle of the food court. The Iron Horse Tavern will feature a creative American menu by Chef Christian Palmos of Cafeteria 15L; its namesake is set to open at the corner of R Street and 15th Street this year. The Italian bistro Paesanos and burger joint Squeeze Inn have been midtown hotspots for years.
The new interior will also feature kioks for seasonal gifts and other retail items.
