Poll: Majority of Californians Support Gov. Brown’s Budget Plan

Sixty-one percent of Californians surveyed said they favored Brown’s new budget, which includes more money for schools and a reserve of more than one billion dollars.

Most Californians prefer paying down debt and building a reserve to restoring funding for social service programs.

Nearly three quarters of those polled approve of the Governor’s plan to give schools more money to implement math and English standards – and 77 percent like Brown’s plan to give schools with more low-income and English-language learners additional funding.

The PPIC poll puts the Governor’s approval rating at 48 percent; down two points from December.  The survey also found record high support for same-sex marriage, with 56 percent in favor, while more than three quarters of those asked said immigrants living here illegally who meet certain requirements should be allowed to stay.
