An Inside Look at CapRadio, Exclusively for Members

Year-End Review And 2020 Plans

It’s the time of year to celebrate endings and highlight new beginnings.

After a successful 2019, the CapRadio news team is at once grateful to serve the community and proud of its achievements: more powerful coverage of the death of Stephon Clark; two marquee podcast series, TahoeLand and Making Meadowview; ongoing excellence in covering California’s Capitol, from the high-speed rail project to sexual harassment training failure; and ambitious multimedia projects, such as our interactive wildfire map and mini-video documentary.

We’re also excited to look forward. 2020 promises to be a year of unprecedented growth and innovation. Simply put: This could be the most consequential year in CapRadio’s four decades.

Here’s a sneak peek: The newsroom plans to welcome at least four new journalists to its team — announcements on those hires coming soon — and the staff is embarking on what I will admit are some very ambitious endeavors. Keep an eye out for special 2020 Election and Census projects, a new major story that unites our investigative and community-engagement teams, fresh podcasts, a new-look Insight with Beth Ruyak — and more things that I can’t let out of the bag just yet.

Again, we’re thrilled to serve you. Thanks for your support!
