An Inside Look at CapRadio, Exclusively for Members

Welcome to TahoeLand

Lake Tahoe is a jewel in the Sierra Nevada that attracts more visitors annually than Disneyland. But climate change threatens to transform the region by the century’s end.

In Capital Public Radio’s new TahoeLand podcast, host Ezra David Romero takes us into the mountains to explore how Tahoe is a unique petri dish for climate-science research — and how it holds lessons that can help us confront the global climate crisis.

California Stopped Tracking Sexual Harassment Complaints Years Ago...

California eliminated its system for tracking harassment and discrimination complaints in 2012, amid budget cuts and government consolidation, leaving California leaders unable to answer basic questions about the prevalence of sexual harassment complaints across state agencies at the height of the Me Too movement.

Scott Rodd's investigative report on the matter looks into how the system fell apart under Jerry Brown, the ramifications and what's in store for the future.

Were Tulsi Gabbard’s Attacks on Kamala Harris’ Record as a California Prosecutor on Target?

During the July 31st Democratic debate, Sen. Kamala Harris came under sharp criticism from Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard. Gabbard's critiques included:

  • Harris "put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana."
  • Harris "blocked evidence that would have freed an innocent man from death row until the courts forced her to do so."
  • Harris "kept people in prison beyond their sentences to use them as cheap labor for the state of California."
Chris Nichols, CapRadio's Politifact California reporter, examined each of Gabbard's claims to find out how credible they were.
