Program changes on CapRadio News starting this Friday

Dear Listener,

This Friday, we’re unveiling an updated program schedule that will bring three popular NPR podcasts to our weekly broadcasts. These shows feature stimulating conversations about race and identity, lifelong learning and history. There are also some shows leaving our lineup. Here’s a summary of our biggest changes:

New Shows

  • Code Switch and Life Kit will debut as a combined hour-long show at 1 p.m. Fridays. Here you'll explore how race affects every part of society and get practical tips and guidance on a wide range of topics from workplace microaggressions to saving money.

  • Throughline will join our expanded Sunday afternoon Storytelling Block, with episodes airing at 4 p.m. This sound-rich narrative series hosted by Rund Abdelfatah and Ramtin Arablouei tackles the history behind today's headlines and takes the listener back in time to understand the present.

Show Departures

  • Ask Me Another will be leaving our schedule as NPR has made the difficult decision to cancel the series.

  • Says You will be leaving our schedule as production of new episodes has ended.

  • TED Radio Hour and Splendid Table will be leaving our schedule — these two well-respected programs have struggled to attract consistent audiences but are still available as podcasts.

The new schedule changes take effect Friday, August 27 on CapRadio’s news stations in Sacramento, Stockton-Modesto, Tahoe-Reno and Quincy.
