Sacramento Sheriff: Suspect In Friday's Fatal Stabbing Detained

UPDATE 3/18/17 11:35 a.m.: The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department says it has detained one person suspected to be involved in the Friday morning stabbing death of a 48-year-old victim on the 4400 block of 37th Avenue in South Sacramento.

The 51-year-old man, who the department says was seen fleeing the scene Friday morning, was located Saturday morning around 10:30 a.m. He has been "detained on suspicion of his involvement" in the stabbing, according to a department press release.

The department says the man lived at the residence where the stabbing happened.


Original Post 3/17/17: The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department announced Friday that they are seeking the public's help in finding a suspect in a fatal early Friday morning stabbing.

The stabbing occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m. in the 4400 block of 37th Avenue in South Sacramento. First responders located a victim with stab wounds and performed life-saving measures. The 48-year-old victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect is a 51-year-old Hispanic male who may have fled the scene via bicycle, according to a department press release. The suspect and the victim were known to each other and were engaged in an altercation prior to the stabbing.
