The Sacramento Sheriff's Department says a teen shot Wednesday afternoon in South Sacramento was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper torso. He is now in critical condition.
According to the department, witnesses said they saw the suspect approach the 16-year-old victim and shoot at him with a handgun, then get in the rear seat of a sedan to flee. Detectives are on the scene and an investigation has begun.
The 911 call came in at 4:20 this afternoon. When sheriff's deputies arrived the victim was on the ground outside of a residence.
