Man Charged In Sacramento, Placer County Sheriff's Deputy Murders: 'I Did Kill Those Cops'

Luis Enrique Monroy Bracamontes charged with killing Sacramento and Placer County sheriff's deputies stunned a courtroom by blurting out that he committed the crimes and is ready to be executed.

At the end of a hearing Wednesday in Sacramento County Superior Court, an agitated Bracamontes said "I did kill those cops." While being led away in chains he said he should be executed.

Earlier, during a break, Bracamontes repeatedly told his lawyers he wanted to plead guilty. They said he could not and later blamed his outbursts on anxiety.

Sacramento County Sheriff Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County Deputy Michael Davis Jr. were killed in the October 2014 shooting spree that injured two other people.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Bracamontes.

His wife, Janelle Marquez Monroy, also faces lesser charges.
