Firefighting crews have made significant progress on two fires currently burning in California -- the Applegate Fire and the Dog Rock Fire in Yosemite National Park.
UPDATE: 11:30 P.M. SUNDAY- Applegate Fire holds at 459 acres, with containment at 80 percent late Sunday. All closures and evacuation orders have been lifted. Officials say full containment is expected on Monday.
UPDATE: 11:19 P.M. - Containment of the Applegate Fire near Auburn stood at 25 percent Thursday night, with 420 acres charred. Five homes have burned, along with several outbuildings. Cal Fires says 1,000 more homes are threatened.

UPDATE: 9:35 P.M. - At least one house burned in the Applegate Fire, which has grown to 380 acres. Mandatory evacuations are in place. One late of eastbound I-80 traffic is now open. Three Red Cross evacuation centers opened.
