Female Artists Have Historic Showing In Grammy Categories

The categories of Best Rock Performance and Best Country Album, traditionally are dominated by men. But this year, for the first time, the nominees in those categories are entirely women.

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep. The Grammy Awards announced their nominees yesterday, and they include many familiar names. Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa dominate. But the list also reveals something new. It's in the categories of best rock performance and best country album, traditionally dominated by men. This year, for the first time, the nominees in those categories are all fronted by women. Six of eight nominees for best new artist were also women. It's MORNING EDITION.
