Fahrenheit 250 Leaving East Sac For Roseville

A barbecue restaurant near Sacramento State on Folsom Boulevard will serve its final meals at its current location this Sunday. Fahrenheit 250 is moving to Roseville. Sonya Sorich from the Sacramento Business Journal says the owners wanted more space.

"Fahrenheit 250 is moving to a large space previously occupied by businesses such as Ciao Pizza and Ettore's Bakery and Café,” says Sorich. “The restaurant currently occupies 4,600 square feet. With the move, it will grow to more than 8,400 square feet."

The Roseville location could open in September. Right now, it's unclear what will fill the site on Folsom Boulevard. The space is listed for lease and could get a good amount of interest because of new growth and activity near Sac State. Back in the 1990s, the site was home to the Cattle Club, a live music venue where bands like Nirvana, the Cranberries and Green Day performed before making it big.

Costco Buys Loomis Land

Warehouse retailer Costco is another step closer to opening a store in Loomis, after spending $4.85 million on a site there earlier this month. Sorich says the sale suggests the project is a done deal.

"Costco hasn't commented on this location, but the property was apparently under contract for sale to Costco for a couple years,” says Sorich. “We're talking about approximately 18 acres at the southeast corner of Brace Road and Sierra College Boulevard."

Costco is currently going through the review process with Loomis officials for the potential store, which would also have a gas station. The project's first environmental impact report raised some concerns — including traffic issues. Loomis is planning to circulate a new environmental impact report for the project in the next few months.

VillaSport Opens In Roseville

A San Rafael-based company, VillaSport Athletic Club and Spa, is opening a new location today in Roseville. Sorich says it's a massive, 130,000-square-foot facility near the Westfield Galleria, billed as a resort-style athletic club.

"That means you can exercise on traditional cardio machines,” says Sorich, “but also take advantage of a bar that's near the pool area, as well as a day spa that includes relaxation lounges complete with chilled towels. This project created more than 250 jobs in Placer County."

A couple of other companies are looking at opening gyms in the Sacramento area. F45, a fitness franchise chain from Australia, is planning multiple sites in the region. And Mayweather Boxing and Fitness also has several locations planned in the area. The fitness program was created by boxing star Floyd Mayweather.
