The worst trade ever or building for the future by getting rid of a troubled, hothead and team disrupter?
Those are the sides fans of the Kings are taking Monday following Sunday's trade of DeMarcus Cousins to New Orleans.
Sacramento will also send forward Omri Caspi to the Pelicans for New Orleans' top draft pick last year, guard Buddy Hield, and the Pelicans' first and second round draft picks this year.
The Kings will also get three players from the Pelicans.
Kings General Manager Vlade Divac was asked why he didn't wait to trade Cousins closer to the NBA's trade deadline on Thursday in hopes of getting a better deal.
"Most likely we would get less," says Divac. "Because I had the better deal two days ago."
The Kings also announced Monday they were waiving veteran forward Matt Barnes to be able to make roster room for the players picked up in the trade. Barnes is a local product having graduated from Del Campo High School.
