Uber Espanol Lets Central Valley Passengers Request Spanish-Speaking Drivers

The ride-sharing service Uber launched a new service for Central Valley travelers on Wednesday. Uber Espanol provides Spanish-speaking drivers for passengers.

Uber Espanol is already in place in such cities as San Diego, Phoenix, and Chicago.

Now it has come to the Central Valley in Sacramento, Stockton, and Fresno.

"It helps out when you get a passenger who only speaks Spanish. Especially when you're asking for directions,"says Juan Vasquez, who signed up as one of the first drivers for Uber Espanol in Stockton.

Carlos Ramos with the League of United Latin American Citizens says the service is a welcome addition to the community as well as a wise business decision.

"Anytime that there is an outreach that's extremely important not just for the consumer but for the company that's doing that. Uber is setting a wonderful example," says Ramos.

According to Uber, hundreds of drivers have applied to drive with Uber Espanol in Sacramento, Stockton, and Fresno already.
