(AP) - Track work is shutting down the Transbay Tube for the weekend, and BART officials are warning riders to find alternate routes from the East Bay into San Francisco.

The Contra Costa Times reports the closure has ferry services preparing for increased riders and is expected to extend trips for drivers crossing the Bay Bridge on Saturday and Sunday by as much as 50 minutes.

A bus from the 19th Street Station in Oakland will take riders to a Temporary Transbay Terminal in San Francisco.

Only buses will be able to access the Interstate 80 onramp at West Grand Avenue and the I-580 onramp on Essex Street.

The Transbay Tube will again be closed Sept. 5 through Sept. 7 so work can be completed over the Labor Day weekend.
