Two votes for a one-vote race will disqualify both votes in this race. The rest of the votes on the ballot will be counted.

(AP) -- The ballot counting continues and observers are keeping close tabs on the tight race for the Sacramento-area congressional seat.

The Sacramento County Registrar of Voters will update the count after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Democratic Representative Ami Bera is in the lead over Republican Challenger Doug Ose by nearly seven hundred votes.

By law, counties have 28 days following an election to process all of the remaining ballots.

Meanwhile, veteran incumbent, Democratic Rep. Jim Costa, had a lead of 700 votes out of nearly 88,000 cast. His neck-and-neck race for a district centered in Fresno against Republican Johnny Tacherra surprised even party insiders.
