The Kaiser Permanente health system in Sacramento says it’s isolating a patient who may have been exposed to Ebola.

Sacramento County Public Health Department says it has sent the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention a blood sample to determine whether or not the patient is infected by the virus.

Sacramento County says the outcome of the test is expected in a few days.

In the meantime, Kaiser Permanente says it is isolating the patient in a negative pressure room at the South Sacramento medical facility. It says infectious disease specialists are involved and staff are using protective equipment.

The health system says it’s working with Sacramento County public health managers to handle the case.

Sacramento County says Kaiser Permanente Northern California has been “properly reporting” to their public health department.
