Festivities Begin For Amgen Tour Of California

The weekend starts tonight with an Amgen gala event at Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento. There will be a dinner and then introductions of the riders accompanied by a light show.

On Saturday streets around the Capitol will be closed as organizers set the race course.

On Sunday, the men's race begins at the State Capitol at about 11 a.m. When they're out on the road, the women's race will begin. It's 25 laps through midtown and starts at noon.

There will also be a community bike ride Sunday.

Amgen will finish its stay in the Sacramento area Monday after a time trial in Folsom.
