It's the first flu-related fatality in Sacramento for the 2013-14 flu season.
County Director of Public Health, Doctor Olivia Kasirye says the county has seen three strains of the flu. Two strains target people with weakened or undeveloped immunities.
"What we're seeing with the H1N1 -which is different from what we see with the other flu is that it affects people who are otherwise healthy and those who are less than 65-years-old."
Kasirye says this year's flu vaccine covers the three strains of flu the county has seen this year.
The county says reports of the flu from clinics and hospitals have been increasing for the last few weeks.
