The city has accepted a bid for two new sections of roadway that would extend H Street north to connect to the new Railyards Boulevard. The new boulevard will run east-to-west and connect 7th Street with Jibboom Street.
Jon Blank with the City of Sacramento says the roadways are key to the development of the area.
"This is a developer project funded with state grants that expire. We're building this project in cooperation with the developer. And in return for building this project, the developer will be building future housing in the Railyards."
The council is scheduled to vote on this phase of development next week.
Inland American owns the property because a former developer defaulted on a loan. Inland American has continued to help develop the site even as it attempts to sell the land.
A company called LDK Capital has entered into an agreement to buy the property and development. The purchase could be completed by February of next year.
