The university says this is the first time there has been an overall increase for the school in ten years.

Gonzalez says the school has hired 25 teachers and formed a new campus office with the task of using data to identify student class and service needs.

"We're gonna be working with the kids at the high school level to make sure when they come here they're prepared in math and science and that they've taken all the prerequisite courses," Gonzalez says.  "When they come here they can just go right through and that's where that data gathering really helps."

The new Office of Analytics and Institutional Effectiveness was also created to help the school spend its money wisely.

"To really look carefully at what they're signing up for," Gonzalez says"  Where the needs are, so that we can predict in a much more efficient and effective way the needs of the campus."

Gonzalez told 400 faculty, students, and school partners the school has the most freshmen and transfer students ever and the school is considering construction of a student events center. Students in the audience liked the idea.

I believe in it completely because it is getting kind of small especially in the last years and there's an increase in students," says senior Sonia Zelny. "Hopefully it doesn't increase tuition. That's my only hope for that."

Gonzalez says an increase in University Union fees is being considered as are construction loans.
