Cal Fire’s Daniel Berlant says 100 firefighters and some aircraft took about three hours to contain the fire.
“We’ll have crews mopping up and getting all of the hot spots out of here all evening," said Berlant. "We’ll even have some crews checking it overnight and into the morning as well. But, fortunately we were able to stop this fire. No homes were damaged or destroyed and nobody was injured, so that is the good news.”
Berlant says the fire spread rapidly because of high winds and dry grass.
No cause of the fire has been identified. It started at about 11:30 a.m. near PFE Road and Watt Avenue.
The Sacramento County Division of Public Health has issued a smoke advisory due to the wildfire. Particulate matter concentration levels are expected to be in the moderate to unhealthy range for sensitive groups. This advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
