Laura West
Midday Host
Laura happened upon broadcasting quite by ‘accident’ while working for a temp agency. Her assignment was at ABCNews10 in Sacramento. During her time in television, Laura learned to produce and eventually earned an Emmy nomination.
After becoming a highly-requested voiceover artist at the station her interest in radio blossomed. Laura cut her teeth producing and voicing commercials for Entercom Radio, and soon became a Smooth Jazz announcer.
From Entercom, Laura was picked up by a news division of a broadcast network that served 25 million weekly listeners. Her news life included being a multimedia journalist, anchor, content provider, senior copy editor and news operations manager. She then founded a production company providing voiceovers, production and directing.
Now, as CapRadio’s Midday Host, Laura says she’s home. She’s had a love affair with her local NPR station for decades. An avid supporter, she never gave up hope of working at CapRadio. She applied several times and says, “The sixth time’s the charm.”
When not on the air Laura can be found walking her dog ... holding her dog … gazing into her dog’s eyes. Currently a brown belt, she continues to strive for her black belt in Kung Fu. Laura has spent time in the beauty industry and is a board-certified esthetician.
