As for Northern California, Cynthia Harris with the auto association says it's a mixed bag.
"The major increase was in the city of Marysville, that jumped 18 cents from a month ago. But other than that, we are experiencing a steady, continuous trend with slight increases in some major metro areas and then some decreases in other metro areas."
The report finds that, in Sacramento, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.80 a gallon, a nickel higher than a month ago. Stockton has the least expensive gas in Northern California at $3.76 . That's a penny less than last month.
Harris says Northern California prices are expected to drop a little in about a week when refineries switch to the cheaper winter-blend gasoline.
