Office of Emergency Services Director Henry Renteria says the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Office of Vital Records and the Department of Insurance are just some of the state agencies that will be on site to help.
“There will be people there to talk to the victims to see what their needs are, their immediate needs are and then what they can do in the long term. These assistance centers are not set up for just one day visit, there could be ongoing assistance provided to the people there…”
Renteria says damage assessment teams will go out this week to examine the fire’s impact on homeowners, renters and business owners. He says that will help determine what type of federal assistance will be made available.
The Local Assistance Center is located at the Lake Tahoe Community College. State officials say it will be open from 10-to-7 through Saturday.
