The ninth annual Record Store Day is happening this Saturday, most likely at one of your favorite indie record stores across the nation.

"Celebrating the culture of the indie record story ...," Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 as a way to spread the word about the unique culture of independent record stores.

Two people who are uniquely qualified to talk about that culture joined Morning Editon anchor Steve Milne in our studio earlier this week. Russ Solomon is the founder of Tower Records, the former beloved record-store chain that started right here in Sacramento, and John Radakovitz, owner of Dimple Records, which operates seven stores in the area.
