Chris Carlson is the man behind the curtain of “Wetface Puppets.” He pedals his home-made bicycle-mounted puppet theater through midtown Sacramento on summer evenings. He parks in and around the Lavendar Heights district, goes behind the curtain and provides hours of entertainment for the public.
His goal: “mess with people.”
Carlson, a substitute teacher, took a puppetry class in college, and that sparked his interest in telling stories with them. He says, “People will connect and respond to the puppets in a really personal and sentimental way.” Carlson’s red and white furry puppets interact with adults and children, and hold forth on any topic from football to music to language itself.
