As hundreds of people fled fires in Lake, Calaveras and Amador Counties in the past weeks so did goats, horses, cows, dogs and cats. Animal organizations from around the state stepped in to help with the rescue effort, which presents its own unique series of challenges. Just finding enough food, water and medical care for the animals can be a feat in itself. Insight speaks with the leaders of two organizations that were instrumental in caring for animals evacuated from the Valley and Butte Fires.
