(AP) - Opponents of California's new mandatory vaccination law are vowing to fight the legislation, even after Gov. Jerry Brown has signed it.
Former state Assemblyman Tim Donnelly has filed paperwork for a ballot initiative to ask voters to repeal the law. Critics are also continuing their outspoken criticism on social media, holding rallies and maintaining a silent vigil at the state Capitol.
Events to oppose the vaccine mandate are planned Friday in San Francisco, Santa Monica and Huntington Beach.
The legislation prompted the most heated debate of this year's legislative session, drawing thousands to the state Capitol.
The law limits the ability for parents to obtain a medical exemption. Children who aren't vaccinated would have to be homeschooled after the law takes effect in 2016.
