Things To Do In Sacramento: Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving may be over, but the holiday season has officially begun. If your family members are still in town, you may be searching for things to do. Here's a list of events in Sacramento this Thanksgiving weekend.

Free Admission Day: Canned Food Drive At Fairytale Town - Fairytale Town has free admission on Nov. 28 for visitors who bring canned goods to donate. Donations will go to the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services.

Black Friday Celebration - East Sac Mercantile has a Black Friday Celebration featuring local merchants and artists. The event takes place Nov. 28 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Brewery Black Friday: 2nd Anniversary Party - New Helvetia celebrates its 2nd Anniversary with a bang. The event takes place Nov. 28 from noon through midnight. They'll have a special anniversary beer, live music, food trucks and more.

Macy's Theatre Of Lights - This event, which kicked off Thanksgiving week, will run through December in Old Sacramento from 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Holiday performances are scheduled for Christmas Eve at 6:15 p.m. and New Year's Eve at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Small Train Holiday - The California State Rail Museum has a two-day event to kick off the holiday season. The event takes place Nov. 28 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids age 6 to 17 and free for kids 5 and under.

Display: Holladay Grand Opening - An Oak Park store featuring the revolving pop up concept officially opens. The store, run by Unseen Heroes, provides a new retail experience every six to eight weeks. The grand opening is scheduled for Nov. 28 and Nov. 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Curtis Park Small Business Saturday - Curtis Park celebrates Small Business Saturday with food, face painting and prizes. The event takes place Nov. 29 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

2nd Annual Charity Beard-Off Challenge - The Beards of Old Sacramento Society will end Movember with a charity beard/moustache shaving event. The event takes place Nov. 30 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the River City Saloon.

California State Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony - Governor Jerry Brown will be on hand to light the state's Christmas tree. The event takes place Dec. 2 starting at 4:30 p.m.
