Michael Osborne
Osborne is a leader in science communication and a climate science mentor to Bay Area high school teachers and students. While pursuing his PhD in geochemistry and oceanography, Osborne developed and taught a class at Stanford entitled "Communicating environmental research using narratives and stories." He has originated a second class, "Podcasting the Anthropocene," a reference to a current debate over whether humanity's influence on the planet is large enough to represent a new geologic age in Earth history. Osborne has worked on a variety of research projects in geological sciences, including his current study of global climate and El Niño in the western Pacific.
