Three Bear Cubs Captured In Lake Tahoe

Thursday, July 17, 2014 | Sacramento, CA

Three five-month old black bear cubs were captured and released yesterday on Lake Tahoe's South Shore.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife says it captured the three cubs in a trap, but the mother of the bears got away. The Department says the cubs - a male and two females - were tranquilized while the mother watched.

They were micro-chipped, released and reunited with their mother after they woke up. The Department says the female was first captured by the Department in 2004.

Authorities expect more bear-human encounters this year, due to the drought.
