Thirty water conservation employees and four other City employees patrolled the city this morning looking for people or businesses using water. Friday's are a no-watering day in the city.
William Granger with the City of Sacramento says the "dawn patrol" was successful.
"This morning we saw a total of 91 violations," Granger says. "And, so we are in the process of writing up those violations and folks will be getting a letter from us in addition to the door tag that we left them."
The City has issued more than two-thousand violation notices this year. All but 43 were first-time violations.
The fine is $50 for a second violation, $200 for a third, and $1000 dollars for every violation thereafter.
Granger says all customers have combined to reduce consumption by 16 percent compared to the last two years.
City departments and parks have reduced their water use by 60 percent.
